Default FAQ: Portal Tuner

Just like the Vitalin Torch; the "Portal Tuner Staff" is just one of the building materials used to build the Portal Tuners.

The "Portal Tuner Staff" and "Torch Staff" are also found under "Special" and nothing under special can ever be "placed".

The "Portal Tuner" you need to place near the Portal will be located under "Decorations" in your toolbag/stash.

There are only 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Default The portal tuners

I have got the portal tuner staves and enough vitalin gems, but the staves does not look as in the Help/FAQ. They are not set in stone - and also, my staves aren´t located under the Decorations tab, they´re located under the Materials tab. What am I missing?

Did you complete the quest "A Fitting Problem"?

No, it hasn´t shown up in any of the quest tabs, Active or Completed. Hm, what´s supposed to activate the "A fitting problem" quest? Feels like I´m past it on the timeline, and that I somehow missed it. Oh and thanks for the help, much appreciated when one is stuck :-)

It should come after "The Found One" but if Jeffery has already given you a quest it's possible that you'd need to finish that quest first. It's also possible that there's another glitch and when you finish the Jeffery quest you have now something will go wrong

Aight. The way I understand it, I´ll go on towards the next major quest in the mines, as the Moletron and if no quest relating to the Portal & the staves has popped up along the way, there is probably a glitch?

The Quests for the Moletron don't exist yet.

You need to finish Jeffery's quest(s) in the fair to continue the Portal quests.

Please check your quest log and see if the quest "A Fitting Problem" is listed as completed. It is possible for no new quests to appear in the mine because whatever quest should show up next involves a visitor on the fair level and that visitor has already given you a quest.

You can see a complete list of quests here:

The Quest 'A fitting problem' is not in my log. Not as an active quest, neither as a completed quest.

The last of this serial that I have completed is 'The found one'.

In the fair I cannot talk to Jeffrey about the tuning staves. He only speaks about the Twirly-gig.

The quest chain must be stuck somewhere for some reason. Could you review the list of quests and figure out what quest from that chain you completed last?

Do you have a quest from him for the Twirly-gig or is he stuck? If you have a quest hopefully when you finish it you'll get a mine one next and then they alternate. Sometimes you have to do all of one chain first

I have completed the Twily-gig and he still will not talk to me about the tuners and the quest has not shown up. I also had a problem locating the portal, although i add actually completed the quest, it would not allow me to move on the next task.

Then how were you able to get to the quest "The Found One"?

The quest with the Twirly-gig is a different serial of quests. It belongs to the "Jeffreys Workshop" serial. The problem occured for me even before this "Jeffreys Workshop" quests were available at all.

I have this problem more then a month now. There must be something stuck in my game.

I have asked for support about this issue two times already and apart from the automated reply I got no answer to my question.

You will more than likely have to complete EVERY quest that Jeffrey has stacked up before he will even talk to you about mine issues.

If you've already done so then it's probably time to reply to the automated reply (as instructed IN the message) to offer any further information, or just to bump the ticket.

If you no longer have the email you can log in to http://support.lolapps.com/requests with the email address you used to send the report in the first place and check the status.

You can also see HERE for the complete quest chain (contains spoilers!). Note particularly the comment between Quest 19 and Quest 20.

I don't see how Jeffery could have been talking to you about the Twirly-gig instead of the Portal Tuners if the quests had not yet been added to the game?

Actually I don't remember exactly if Jeffrey has been talking about the portal tuners. What I do remember is that I delivered him the ten crystals. I think I also talked to the King afterwards, but it's all more then a month ago, so I'm not really sure about that either.

Then there was a period that nothing happened. Then a new quest chain started "Jeffreys workshop", as far as I know this is a new element in the game that was introduced some weeks ago, anyway áfter I got stuck with the Portal Tuner.
I can participate in the Workshop quest chain, I'm still working on that chain, and as far as I can see all functions well in this quest chain. When I talk to Jeffrey he gives answers that belong to the Workshop quest chain (like he should).

But with the portal tuner quest I did not come one step further... while I see in fairs of neighbours who are about twenty levels below me they were able to complete the portal tuner quest.

Most of the time it seems to depend on exactly when you talk to Jeffrey. If you don't have any active quests with him at the time you get the tuner quest to talk to him, then you don't get blocked by anything else.

Poor Jeffrey, you'd think he would learn to delegate a bit! Being the resident mad scientist must be a pain sometimes...
