UPDATE: There should be an ask friends button on any item in the ore refiner that you do not have enough in your stash. A solution that allows you to gain the materials through game play is still being worked on.
If you have a quest, machine, building, etc that requires Refined Pergium, Gold Medallions, or Cut Ruby it is not triggering the loot detector to drop ruby, and possibly gold. The ask friends buttons are also missing from the Ore Refiner.
I believe drops from monsters are still not tied to the loot detector; I believe the daily bonus is is now tied to it. This means that you won't automatically get what you need; on the other hand you may get things the game doesn't see that you need but you actually do. However you'd probably have to kill an unrealistic number of monsters to gather enough rubies and gold for these quests.
I'm not sure if gold is supposed to drop while mining rocks. You can receive pergium and gold simply by keeping your machines repaired; though gold is a rarely created by machines and is primarily gift only.
In the meantime there are some ways to work around this:
1) If the material you need is listed on your free gift tab send and request from up to 40 people. If it isn't on your gift tab try again tomorrow. Each user has half the building materials on their gift tab but it seems to be switching faster than it used to for most players. This is a facebook rule and is not under the control of LOLapps
2) Flip through your friends wishlists and if any have asked for the material- send that first to use your free gift for the day for that person
3) Build a machine/game/building that requires the material. (Reminder, don't forget to add the material to your wish list as well as posting ask friend links)
4) Use the co-operate section. There is no need to have your own links the return rate for sending other people what they have asked for is very high.
5) However, if you have recently asked for the required material you may be able to find an old link on your wall: links reset after 24ish hours so you can repost them and your friends can use them again (or post them in co-operate)
