Default FAQ: Autoconnect feature - how to use balustrade, short aqueducts, paths, and more

When you place paths, canals, balustrades, and similar items in adjacent squares containing the same item they will rotate or form corners to connect automatically. You cannot manually rotate them.

    Canals:

Before you place the canal it looks like a circle, not like the picture in the shoppe/storage

And when you place the canal it stays the same circle:

Put another canal beside the first and before it is placed they both look like circles:

But as soon as you place it they connect!

    To form a corner

Just place the pieces in an L shape

Then as you can see just continue on and you can forum a square:

You can also make smaller groups

    Balustrades:

Balustrades work basically the same way.

    Short Aqueduct

Short Aqueduct are a bit special because they end in a fountain. Feature removed

One alone looks like a fountain

The next one looks the same before you place it

    Or with a gap:

Place it and they form an aqueduct; then continue on and you can make a corner and other things:

If the two ends are not connected they remain fountains

If you do connect the ends they form a square:

    And groups:

    Paths

Paths are a bit more subtle but they form corners as well

One alone is a square with sharp corners:

Attach two paths and the ends become rounded:

    Or form rounded corners

    Or a rounded box:

But two different kinds of paths will not connect

There are only 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't.

It's also good for people to note that you can not manually rotate them.

    Exclamation Stone Balustrade

I have visited friends and they have used these to surround objects and I tried to do the same but mine will not rotate is there a reason why my friends can do this with theirs but I can't?

The stone balustrades should automatically rotate and connect when you place them next to each other. Just put them in a line in any direction.

I thought the dry aquaducts would behave this way as well, but they do not. Is that intentional? Any plans to change it?

Default Dry Aqueduct Doesn't Join Up

I did a forum search for this but couldn't find anything.

It's impossible to make the pieces join up. The bottom takes up 3 spaces and overlaps with the bottom of another piece.

I'm also on this quest, and just purchased two dry aqueducts. They don't join up, and I think they look silly apart - they just look like ruins.

Please note that any deco not listed in the first post doesn't join; it's not supposed to be able to join.

I agree with Lady Blue that they look very silly standing apart. Just because an aqueduct is old and dry doesn't mean it can't stretch for some length. Here's the Roman aqueduct in Segovia.

I agree too, the dry aquaducts should connect also. I put three out for a quest, but stored them again because they just don't look right disconnected.

    Thumbs down Blue garden fences...rotate

I've been trying to rotate the blue garden fences. I've used rotate tool, clicked on them for mini pop up window, etc.

Seems only time I can get them to rotate is if I put them in front or behind another fence and than they will.

It's annoying that I can't rotate them as I want. I've noticed a few others like the stone fence won't rotate either at will.

    Blah.

    Unhappy Can't rotate walls?

Hi. Any time I buy a wall (city wall, garden fence, stone balustrade), it won't let me rotate it! If I click with the multi-tool, the Rotate option isn't available. So I select the Rotate tool, and it still won't!!

How am I supposed to decorate my land if all of my fences face the same direction?? What do I do???
