Default It seems like facebook has it in for games and applications

I was shocked to see that FGS will be ending today, because facebook has threatened to take legal action against the developer.

Here is a link to the blog explaining more
    http://blog.fgs.rzadki.eu/2012/01/end-of-fgs.html

I have a very hard time using Timeline to find game posts. When I do finally find them, there are usually over 100 grouped together, and they are
very small and difficult to use, well for me anyway. They are in this tiny window, and it's really hard to scroll through them, not very well thought out at all.

I assume the facebook links that show stories only from apps will still work? If not, I will probably quit playing games like this, or at least, remove my neighbors and just help in the co-ops from now on. I do enjoy helping people, but if facebook will continue to make it very time consuming and tedious to do so, I can't keep it up

While the new timeline has some nice points, it's not very friendly towards games. And if facebook is trying to do away with bonus checkers and programs to help us find posts, I can't help but wonder what is going on? Don't games bring in revenue to faceook as well as the developers? Why does it seem like facebook is alienating people who enjoy games?

I remind people that I don't work for LOLapps, I'm just a volunteer. I don't speak for LOLapps and I don't have any special contact with facebook.

When you use a bonus collector you're not on facebook viewing facebook ads and you are costing facebook money, it's as simple as that. Users do not pay for facebook, advertisements do; therefore we aren't the customer. They do whatever will get the most adviews, the longest time on a page, and the most clicks on ads.

Facebook has taken feed filter links away before, I can't say that they won't do it again. Right now they are working.

Facebook lists of friends can also be filtered to only show game posts. Add people to a list, then view the list (the selector is on the left side of your newsfeed), and then up at the top right there's a "manage list" button. The select "choose update types" and more options will appear. I don't know if this works on timeline as I haven't switched.

I'm hoping there will be changes that make things better, but I suspect most users do not use bonus checkers and still play games.

" Either way, it leaves users scrambling to find an adequate replacement, as game releases are never-ending and users must spend that much more time manually collecting bonuses to not get left behind."

Or game requirements could be a lot lower. Really how many wall posts a day are beneficial vs the point at which everyone starts blocking all games or using the lists feature to turn off all game posts.

Seriously 500+ gift only items for one useless wonder?

That brings up a good point, about costing facebook money..I didn't think about that. I would think they'd care a bit more about us gamers though, we're the ones who buy facebook credits. I don't imagine anyone who doesn't play or use an app would have a need for credits. We're not a bunch of useless spammers after all. I actually spend all my fun money on credits now, I find these games to be more enjoyable than my PS3 or Wii.

Thanks for the reminder about using lists. I forgot about this feature, since I was spoiled by FGS. And timeline is new, maybe they will change it so games get a bigger window, not the one inch thing we have to scroll through now.

And thank you devs and mods for allowing us to use the co-op threads, I don't know any other game which helps the users as much as this.

For those that want to sign the petition to save FGS you can sign the online petion at

While it is true that ad space wasn't present on FGS itself, it is also true that in order to use FGS you had to be logged on Facebook so that is a bit of spurious argument. It basically appears as general consensus that it was a bit of an over reaction on Facebooks part, that was in most peoples opinions probably due to pressure foisted on them by Game Tyrant Mark Pyncus CEO of Zynga that has made such statements as that he dislikes having game players play the games to long. They could have simply talked to Files about adding coding that would have allowed direct advertising links to appear on the ap or other marketing ploys that benefit Facebook, which how apps such as Gamers Unite actually stay in business since they direct link advisement and Facebook credit marketing into their software. In other words basically Facebook nor Zynga profited directly from the app so Zynga had shut down.

I don't mind asking for gifts for game, but I do find it a hassle to do so without flooding my wall with posts. Every time I get a "____ has visited your fair and found some coins in the bug whatever" I glare at the screen and want to punch that person because I don't give a flip about 20 coins.... even though they were just being nice. I don't want to completely block the app from my wall though because then I couldn't ask for anything if I really needed it so much or if the co-op forums got cancelled somehow for some reason one day. I don't know why users have to be asked to share every little thing they accomplish in a game. It got so annoying I dropped every other facebook game but the Raven games. I consider Facebook the "beg for items" site nowadays. You can;t even view actual social activity anymore because it's instantly spammed away by game requests. I'm thinking maybe facebook should give people a separate 'gaming' wall so that they don't lost the 'social' aspect of their site entirely. I could go on and on about this, but I will just leave it at that.

I agree about those posts, and the additional ones in Ravenwood that you can send if you click on Ravenwood News and thank the people who visited *your* fair. UGH.

They did take out the wall posts for killing monsters (except the very first time you kill that specific kind of monster). But that still leaves leveling up, ranking up, finishing quests, and finishing building things, daily bonus, blah blah.

I don't *mind* the quest ones because I think it gets people psyched about the new content, and the collection bonus ones are good because they have a lot of reward.

I don't know if it's possible, but I really wish you could at least turn off other people posting game posts on your wall without turning off their ability to post just regular stuff on your wall (including shared photos, etc). At least then I could control how much is on my wall; and those with fewer neighbours or who need bonuses more can do as they please. I don't want to take away anything from people who enjoy it.
