from memory I believe there is not a quest for it, I just bought it and built it.

The Hatchery was part of a questchain that was given to random players according to Secrets of the Ravenworld. I remember building the Hatchery cause of this questchain.
what are hummingbird powers?
you can use the hummingbirds to collect from your buildings. They don't have other special powers.
