It's a bonus quest.

There's a FAQ about this:
(UPDATED)FAQ: Why do I have to spend credits to finish a quest?

And a link to the FAQ in the announcement post.

I hope most of the bonus quests in the future just require mass amounts of work or material. I know it may be stupid but I feel left out when I can't do a quest because I don't have credits. Games are one place where I can forget that "Some have and some have not". And the games that remind me of this on a regular basis are usually the games that I abandon, even if I like the game. Just my two cents of course.
There's always premium decorations and avatars though

Yes, but they're not linked to a quest. I can just ignore them. They're not keeping me from participating. For me it's just different when quests or activities require or pressure the use of credits. When I go to the shop I just don't pay any attention to the credit items.
Anyway, that's just how I feel about it. I realize everyone else might feel differently.
Can't know what people think unless they say something![]()

LOL Ok Got it now, and yeah kind of agree with Sparky it had confused me because normally the Credit items wern't associated with a quest lol. But as long as it doesn't affect anything else that's cool
Naw, you are not the only one, and especially when the item is something cool that you do want but the only way to get it is to buy it. I had a problem completing any quests back when I had only a couple of friends so I did use facebook credits....that soon got out of hand so the rule now is that I don't get what I can't get by playing the game. There ought to be some alternative for people who can't afford to buy virtual images instead of food for their families. OK, make it hard, if I want it bad enough I'll put the work into it!
Anyway, these extra items should not be in quest form, I agree....there is a sense of not being able to fully play the game without spending money.
Very well put my friend, that's why ravenwood is the only facebook game I play now because the others (mentioning no names but I'm sure you all know which game provider I mean, here is a clue - 'Z####' ) are all about the money, we play these games to escape real life don't we. I know we all hate ads but I'm aware we need them to pay for free stuff online such as ravenwood, and the option to spend credits has always been there but never a necessity to complete a quest. I know the quest is optional but I hope ravenwood isn't moving towards having more quests like this as that would mean that ravenwood becomes like the rest of the world instead of our little haven from it. Although on the title of my comment I have a 'thumbs down symbol' I want to be clear I do really love Ravenwood it's the best game on facebook and the only one thats actually any fun![]()
The bonus quests are quests than don't contribute to the story, or give a crazy reward, and it makes no difference to the game whether you complete them or skip them. They aren't really meant to appeal to everyone.
It's not really a secret that the number of players is way down for Ravenwood. So they're trying some different things.
This quest was a thank-you and little bonus for people who spend credits (you get a free 6 credit decoration for completing it, but it's just a silly decoration and it's only 6 credits if you want to buy it without doing the quest)
The little one-off quests that they are adding to the game in between packs are to keep players who are out of content more engaged. It's also a fun reminder of some of the older packs. For people who still have lots of quests to catch up on they're annoying so they can be skipped.
Selling older premium items for massive amounts of materials was a way to use up excess materials and give players who do spend credits a discount, as well as letting a few players who do not use credits but are persistent enough get the items without credits. A lot of people skipped these quests, and that's the way it was meant to be.
Also quests that are only for people with large numbers of neighbours are optional, like the party quests, which can now just be skipped.
I would hope that players can appreciate the bonuses for what they are: bonuses. It's not really any different than stores giving away bonuses, if a store gives away a product that you have no use for, or gives away a small trinket if you buy let's say pepsi instead of coke, it's not taking anything away from you if you really hate pepsi and stick to coke. It's not a big deal if stores, or companies, offer small bonuses to just a small percentage of their customers. Unlike some games the premium items in Ravenwood really don't give any sort of advantage to those who can buy them -they're just pretty. The same goes for these bonus quests: they don't change or impact the game in any way, it's just something to do for those who want to do it.
