Lightbulb Collection pieces. Just a thought

I've noticed that some of the pieces from a particular collection are popping out less than regularly. Like, for me (as an example) I used to have trouble finding aranberry shortcakes, but now have trouble finding aranberry parfaits. Or when I would never find stone owl masks when chopping rocks, but now have trouble finding stone lions. Instead of making a 1/x amount of harvesting/chopping/collecting, all items should drop something. I'm sure many of you out there are having trouble continuing a collection line 'cause, probably, you only want one kind of building (airsurf collection from airboard shop, for example), or a certain piece won't drop from your totem (like leon's shield or that elusive houzi bust). Sure, it'll take away the challenge, but who wants to be trolled constantly by the collection pieces (I mean when you're one piece away from finishing a collection, but don't get the piece you want and have to keep trying forever 'til you get that last piece)?

The buildings which drop collection pieces should ALWAYS drop collection pieces. It always feels like I got trolled when a building doesn't drop! The ratio shouldn't change, though.

I also think Hummingbird Helpers actually makes it a billion times harder to complete collections because they'll empty out "unripe" buildings sometimes, thwarting your ability to get a drop from that building. I've gotten to where I'll use my own energy myself to go collect from my buildings that have potential drops, then use the Hummingbirds to finish up everything else. I've played for months and still have never completed a building-specific collection, actually.

As long as a building has been used once you can collect from it and have the chance of receiving a collection item.

I've started collecting from them myself and saving hummingbirds for when I have quests. But the drops are still slow. I think it's going to take me months and months to complete them all. Collection drops from chopping and killing monsters seems to be a lot better than drops from buildings.

Also, I used leon's roar today to collect from buildings. I wonder if that will slow down drops even further. Maybe I shouldn't do that anymore?

I used to ignore building collection for a long time and only used Hummingbird at the time. Now that my city has reached rank 30 I stashed all my buildings that does not contain collection items and used merely hummingbird to collect from them. The efficiency is much better now--I can get like 1-2 items per hummingbird. On the other hand, I'm not that urgent to get all of them though--they can wait..

In my experience and in my opinion, which you are free to toss into the round file, the crops collections are the easiest to get. Granted, one will need quite a few plots and a good bit of energy. Then again, I do have the elusive level 30 for the city and quite a bit further than that up the ladder on experience. I planted a lot of the crop and collected, repeating the process as needed to get the collection. I get energy either from the forum links, by asking friends, or by visiting all my neighbors. JMHO.

I've got 3 each of the library, tea shops and airboard shops, and I still haven't finished the level 10 on any of them. I've decided it's easiest to pick one or two collections that you are "dying" to get, leave those buildings out and stash the rest. The NPCs are then pretty much forced to concentrate their visits to using the buildings from which you want a collection item. I have collected right after 1 use and gotten items to drop.

I have gotten items to drop using the hummers to collect -- after I finished the level 10 of the collection. Not sure if that's by accident, design, or just shows the kind of luck I have getting stuff.
    Thank you!!
All gifts are appreciated and will be returned as soon as I get them, barring glitches, FB issues or hungry cyber gremlins.

I have to agree. I am very frustrated by the building collections. I have completed all the collections from crops but the buildings are a completely different story! I have been playing for quite a long time (Level 83 City Rank 30) and there are building collections that I have not been able to complete once (Finer Things, Ancient Defenses, Toy Airships, Scholarly gear) ...yet alone 10 times. I really wish they would do something about this!

The original collections only had one building that dropped their collection pieces. For Finer Things and Toy Airship you do not have a teashop or workshop on your city from what I see. Café du monde and Maker's Workshop aren't the same thing.

For the other two the collections have the same drop rate as the others, but you aren't going to complete Ancient Defenses as quickly as Wild Royals, since for Wild Royals you 2x Rose's Villa, 1x Rose's Vintage, 1x Vintage Cellar, 1x Café du Monde for a total of 4 buildings vs 1 War college for Ancient Defenses.

In that case I guess it makes sense why I haven't completed the Finer Things and Toy Airship collections! I assumed that even though they were upgraded they would still be part of the original collection! Thank you for clarifying that!

There are others ones that still are taking far longer than they probably should. The Souvenirs Collection is one of them. I have had 3 Souvenir shops for a VERY long time but I have only completed the collection twice!

Hummingbirds have just as much chance of finding a collection item from a building as you do. One time I used a hummingbird and got 3 pieces. Most of time you don't get any. And you can harvest the buildings as often as you like and still find pieces - you just have to do it by hand. I only have one souvenier shop, so I click on it every time I load my city.

So I'd like to ask-- how is the building "use" calculated? I mean, is it proportional to the number of NPCs in your place and inverse proportional to the number of usable buildings in your place? Or is there a different formula?

    It's a secret. (aka it's proprietary information).

I'm sure some tricky, tricky fans could figure it out though.

I mean, the uses come from NPCs, so I assume each NPC randomly chooses a building to use at a certain time interval. But then there's the question about how they deal with houses with full uses and such.

I *think* that there is a designated percentage of time that NPCs spend using buildings. They will use any building that isn't full and the building is chosen randomly and/or by a complex algorithm. Players do report that having only one or two buildings out makes those buildings get used faster. Buildings with more uses take longer to be completely full than those with fewer uses.

After months of staring at my game and finally getting to level 10 on a lot of the collections, I have to ABSOLUTELY AGREE with this suggestion. I think it's worth considering increasing the drop rate OR making it not so random OR getting a drop from neighbors buildings EVERY time. It costs me energy to collect and I only get 1xp if it's not a full building (vs 5) so I don't see how this would impact the Ravenskye economy negatively. I won't clear out buildings or redecorate until I achieve collection goals (which I started late because I didn't realize there were such cool items to earn) so my ecology just went down and my Island is ugly (it used to be such a pretty, happy place). Between the randomness of collection and frequency of quests/packs, I feel like I can't catch up and discouraged to spend more money on the game because I don't feel like I could spend enough to actually play the way I wanted to. Think about it... I could spend $x (pick a price/any price) and still not complete the collection! By they way, I've been working on the Flight Club collection for two weeks now (I know because I'm behind by two quest themes and I've logged a lot resources (stashed buildings to increase efficiency and only pulling from multiple copies of the Flight Club buildings for hours sometimes). That's my suggestion. Thanks for reading the blah blah blah.
