Default Tunnel of Love Quest - Need Pay?

Is this a new direction - that we are going to be set new mini quests that need to be paid for - I've been asked to set a Tunnel of Love on my fair for 39 facebook credits. Is this going to be a new feature - it's a bit of a shame if it is but then I can also see it allows Ravenwood to get funds so I'm not going to be too upset - just want to know.

    Thanks

(UPDATED)FAQ: Why do I have to spend credits to finish a quest?
    http://forums.lolapps.com/threads/26...finish-a-quest
You do not need to spend facebook credits to finish any quest. Items that can only be purchased for credits are optional.

If you have found a quest and you think it requires you to spend credits read it carefully again, including the tip. If it requires buying something remember that there may be multiple items that fulfill the quest and they may not be grouped together.

Sometimes the "ask friends" buttons for a specific building material will go missing from all quests, games, buildings, and/or machines. If this happens please post here or contact the developers directly. All building materials should have an "ask friends" button except for vitalin gems - vitalin gems can not be gifted but you can get one every 20 hours by mining vitalin crystals.

    Specific Quests:

Dr. Cat's Sweetie: you can purchase any cat statue. The Tigerseye Cat Statue is 3200 coins. It's currently on the same page as the picnic umbrellas, Rattleyrs, and Emerald Cat statue, but things in the shop tend to move around.

What's a Party Without Music: There's a new song "Bring Your Dancing Shoes" in Calliope, to find it click the Calliope, then "Play Song" then click the yellow arrow to the left of the songs.

New Tune: There are songs available for credits, and songs that require coins and sheet music. The number listed for sheet music may be how many more are needed than you already have.

Bonus Quests: Some quest chains now have bonus quests on the end. Such as "Tunnel of Love". These quests either involve items that require a large amount of gift-only items (ie 119 sugar skulls to buy the Haunted House") which allow players to either pay the usual price (ie buy 119 sugar skulls for credits) or earn some or all of them by annoying their friends. Or the quest may be for a credit-only item and give a special item as a reward (such as Tunnel of Love). These quests do not block any normal quests and can be abandoned (possibly not until the season is removed from the game).

    NEW! Materials:

Not all materials drop, some can only be gifted. Not all materials can be asked for, gifted, or put on the wishlist. Some materials drop from both your own fair and your neighbours, some drop from your own fair only, and some drop from neighbours. Some materials can only be created in-game through "crafting" (in the Ore Refiner, etc). Some materials are only rewarded by quests.

ALL materials can be obtained without spending credits, though of course you can buy almost all materials with credits should you chose to. Most materials will tell you where they can be obtained from if you

Artesian water was the first material in the game that could not be gifted, it also could not be obtained from neighbours.

Gumbo, Cotton Candy, Peanuts, Bug Shoes, and Bug Whistles can not be gifted, but drop from both your own trees, neighbours' trees, and neighbours' protectors.

The friend button must be missing then - so I don't log an unnecessary ticket for a common problem, I've posted here first with a couple of screen shots. I have also looked in my decorations but it is not there.

Please could you advise further. Thanks.

These quests are for items that either cost a large amounts of gift-only items OR items that cost credits; not both. The tunnel of love is for an item that costs credits and gives a special reward in return for spending credits (basically a special sale you can take advantage of only once).

This goes against your first reply - it has been set as a quest - so I have to pay money to complete it - you said this didn't happen - that was the reason for my initial post - So we are going to start getting quests that require us to spend money?

You can either do the quest it or abandon it, either way it will be completed. Just like seasonal quests can be completed or abandoned, because they are optional -however in the case of seasonal quests you have to wait for the season to be finished before you can abandon them.

Also my second reply contains a quote from my first reply, it's the same information in the first reply, and the second reply, and the quote of the first reply within the second reply

The point is being missed - I have never had to abandon any quest - ever - this is the very first quest that I can't do - why - because it requires money - facebook credits - that is a change - and it does not fit in with the first sentence - 'you do not need to spend facebook credits to finish any quest' - it is a quest that I can't finish without abandoning - abandoning a quest is not finishing - I can't do the quest - and the only reason is to finish the quest I would have to spend facebook credits.

There has been a change in the game - never has this happened - so is this going to be more common in the future?

The other 'extra' items I always done because it is material led - not credit led. And the Valentine items are still being sold aren't they - I have run out of time have I - is that why I only have the option of buying The Tunnel of Love?

Valentine's items are still in Ravenwood or else you would not have the option to buy the tunnel of love even for credits. Once a season is closed all the items are removed from the shoppe including the premium items; except for protectors and a few other exceptions.

This is not the first quest that has been optional, though it is the first quest that was for credits only (though many other quests count premium items in addition to normal items). The daily quests can be skipped if you happen to not want to do the specific quest offered that specific day. The party quests are skippable for those who chose not to have enough active neighbours to complete them. The last Oktoberfest quest was also only finishable by players who chose to have enough neighbours, and could not be abandoned until the season was over - just like the quests for the Haunted House and Pilgrim House didn't let users skip them until after the season was over.

I don't know what LOLapps long term plans are they don't tell me these things, however it seems they are moving towards more making more optional quests so that the game can appeal to a wider range of players, rather than being limited to only making quests that everyone regardless of level, how often they play, how many neighbours they have, and how many gifts they chose to send can finish them.

Many players buy the premium items, so LOLapps made a quest for them, as a nice way to say "Thanks" the get a bit of extra XP and a 6 credit decoration free for buying the Tunnel of Love - but only once, if they buy 6 Tunnels of Love they don't get the reward 6 times. For everyone else they can skip the quest and move on.

LOLapps is going to do whatever makes the most number of players happy and makes money, it's nice when they offer the older premium items for materials instead of just credits, it gives people a nice discount if they help their neighbours a lot and allows people who chose not to use credits to get the items for free. LOLapps also put the special offers beneath the game to allow players an additional way to earn free credits aside from the ones offered under "other" when you buy credits. However making every item available for free probably does not make good business sense, and making every quest easy for players of every possible level and style is possibly why Ravenwood's numbers are struggling - there's just nothing to keep players after a certain point.

So yes, you can play the game entirely for free, there are no credit-only items that give a real advantage for players who pay money, but there probably will be more optional quests, some of which may involve the premium items. Skipping them will not stop you from receiving any other quest, or part of the story, or anything important - these bonus quests are just that: bonuses.

But I will edit the first sentence in the FAQ.
